Snoring is a very common health problem. The results of a survey show that half of the population snore in some demographics. And since the vast majority of people have sleeping partners, snoring has become a serious problem for both the patients and for those who they share the bed with. In some cases, this health issue led to divorce. In this regard, a number of studies has been made to identify the reason behind snoring and to trouble shoot it. The results showed that the soft tissue in a person’s upper palate or throat starts vibrating as they sleep. There is no universal way to sure snoring, but one of the most widely used options is the stop snoring surgery.

A variety of snoring treatment approaches exists but surgery is one of the first solutions to be invented. Despite the various non surgical methods that are available such as anti snoring devices, patients and specialists are still skeptic about the efficiency of those tools especially in extreme cases. In case you have tried out many of those devices and products without any remarkable success or you are not satisfied with the results, you should go for the surgery option. This is of course the most serious and dangerous of all treatments and should definitely be well thought out before going through with.

That’s why you should consider the ways to stop snoring without surgery before even thinking about going the surgery path. You can go for a low-end (but high quality) device like the anti snoring pillow or the snoring mouthpiece. The risk factor is almost zero and you can definitely get good results if you are not an extreme case. If none delivers any results then you should have a look at the surgery to stop snoring.

Stop snoring surgery’s principle is simple. It tends to decrease or completely stop the collapsibility of the oropharyngeal segment. In order to do this, doctors try to reduce the amount of soft palate or remove the tonsils once and for all. In some cases, surgery requires the removal of the chief vibratory tissue. Actually, surgeries themselves exist in different kinds. Each one is more developed than the other in one way or another. Laser assisted uvulopalatoplasty is one of most often performed surgery types for snoring remedy purposes. It can be performed under general – but also under local – anesthesia. That’s why it is safer and more comfortable than any other surgery to stop snoring.

This type of surgery involves the vaporization of the edge of the soft palate and uvula through laser. One of its advantages is that it can be repeated as often as needed to achieve the desired results. This is important because the other stop snoring surgeries differ in this area.

Another type of surgery may involve the injection of some substance. This means that it requires the injection of a chemical into the soft palate and is called snoreplasty. The chemicals used are similar to those used for removing varicose veins and they work by destroying the injected tissue. However, the exact amount of chemical needed for effectiveness has not yet been accurately established and that’s why the results vary from patient to patient.

There are many surgical and non surgical treatments of snoring that should be taken into consideration. But in order to identify what kind of snorer you are, you have to consult your doctor before you go for a stop snoring surgery.
